Aviator sunglasses are also known as “Pilot shades” Originally developed by Ray-Ban in 1965, after his previous goggle glasses were bulky. He developed them keeping in mind that they needed to be dark, preventing any glaring light to be let in. The immediately became popular with the Pilots. General Douglas MacArthur was first spotted wearing the Aviator shades, and the popularity of these glasses took off. The style was popular since the 60s, but became hot again in the 80’s when Top Gun premiered. They are a classic style that never has dated, and again we see them climbing popularity once again.
